Grand Canyon Trip Day 5: Half Off Dinner and a Night at a Hilton Resort (Including a $53 Breakfast and Parking) for Just Over $3

As we wrap up our Arizona adventure, we’re proving one final point: you don’t need a massive budget to eat and sleep like royalty—you just need a calendar and a calculator. Today was all about perfect timing and maximizing mid-year credit resets.

The Eats: Happy Hour Arbitrage

We kicked off the evening at Yard House, but we timed our arrival perfectly for the 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM happy hour. By hitting that window, we snagged 50% off select appetizers. We feasted on poke nachos, a full pizza, and calamari, enjoying a high-end spread for half the standard menu price.

The Stay: Hilton Tapatio Cliffs

Our final stay at the Hilton Tapatio Cliffs was an another example of stacking benefits. With the calendar flipping to July 1, I gained access to my second $200 Hilton Aspire semi-annual resort credit of the year. Here is how the math worked out:

  • The Room: The rate was $170.
  • The Room Charges: We utilized our $30 food and beverage credit, and spent $53 on breakfast the next morning and $10 on parking.
  • The Result: the total room rate plus breakfast and parking came out to $203.86. By applying the $200 semi-annual resort credit against the room rate and our dining costs, our total out-of-pocket expense for the entire night and our meals came out to just over $3.
